K.Y.M.O’S mission is to provide
our communities youth access to all levels of music education. We fulfill our
mission by supporting school programs. We will create after-school programs
that provide beyond the classroom experiences to give a holistic view of music
education, and engaging various populations in our new Center for Community
Music and Wellness music therapy and music education programs. K.Y.M.O will
impact youth from all ethnic backgrounds. KYMO will develop
the youth’s musical talents through active involvement in community services. We
feel by engaging the young musicians or future music business leaders in these
community services, we will foster the children’s recognition and acceptance of
such common social values as sharing, teamwork, and striving for excellence. We
will also sponsor anti-crime
and anti-drug youth functions for all ages, including special needs
children. We are pushing aggressively to take back our youth from the
infestation of gangs and violence that they are subjected to on a daily basis.
Our idea is, that if we consistently offer engaging activities that are also
learning experiences for the youth to be involved in, then just maybe, the idle
time they have, will be occupied and this will keep them off the streets and away from drugs and crime. Music is a powerful medium for youth expression, identity and social
change. Young people, who rely on music as a way to channel a range of emotion,
rarely find opportunities in the adult world to produce, write, and record
original music.
